NSW: 212 located in NSW as part of Missing Persons Week

Six people missing for more than a year were among 212 New South Wales residents found safe
and well during this year's Missing Persons Week.

Police say several of those located had been categorised as long-term lost or high-concern
cases after vanishing for more than two years ago.

A spokesman for the NSW Police Missing Persons Unit says some 426 phone calls were received
by the unit during the first week of August, leading to the closure of 212 cases.

During the same week last year 202 people were located, including three long-termers living
interstate.

Every year more than 28,000 people are reported missing in Australia, some 8,000 from NSW.
