Retail Automation Reports Higher Third-Quarter Operating Income.(Financial report)

NCR Corp.'s Retail Store Automation business, which develops self-checkout and traditional point-of-sale equipment for retailers, reported a third-quarter operating income of $20 million, up 82% from the same three-month period last year.

Retail Automation, which is based in Atlanta, reported revenues of $278 million, up 27% compared with the same three-month period last year.

The improved numbers pleased the boss, Bill Nuti, NCR's chairman, president and CEO. "After a slow start in 2007, we managed to drive significant revenue growth in the third quarter as we saw strong 25% plus growth for both our self-service and traditional point-of-sale solutions," …
