Vic: Booze bus campaign gears up for new year

A Victorian police crackdown on new year's eve drink drivers has begun early, with
more than 5,700 motorists breath-tested around the state overnight.

Of those, 11 were detected over the legal alcohol limit, including a man stopped at
Dandenong, in Melbourne's east, with an alleged reading of 0.2 -- four times the legal
limit.

Police say last night's effort was part of a campaign that will see up to 200,000 drivers
tested over the month and the new-year period.

Every available booze bus will be in operation tomorrow night, with police warning

revellers to make safe travel arrangements prior to the festivities.
